Chief Apostle Charles Wilkerson, Sr.

Founder of Deliverance Evangelistic Centers of Georgia, Inc.



Charles Wilkerson, Sr., minister, rescue worker, author, composer, founder and director of Deliverance Evangelistic Centers of Georgia, Inc., was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his early education in the public schools of Douglas, Georgia and attended Savannah State University from 1951-1953 as a Social Science major with a minor in Business Education.


Wilkerson was ordained a minister of the gospel at the Church of God in Unity, Quitman, Georgia in 1951. He founded Deliverance Evangelist Centers of Georgia, Inc. in 1965, with headquarters in Savannah, Georgia and congregations in Broxton, Georgia, Adel, Georgia, Jacksonville, North Carolina and Springfield, Georgia. He served as Chairman of the Board and Director of Religious and Eleemosynary Operations until his death in 2016.



Of all the honors received (including a special citation from the president of Guatemala) his two most treasured honors are Honorary Doctor of Divinity from DELIVERANCE BIBLE INSTITUTE, Deliverance Centers, Inc., by the late Apostle Arturo Skinner, President and Lt. Colonel Aide-de-Camp, Governor's Staff, appointed by Georgia Governor Joe Frank Harris.


Wilkerson has authored three expository books, two of which are in the library at Oral Roberts University and one socio-politico novel which is currently being marketed for sales distribution. His hobbies are song writing (two of which have already been recorded by M.S.R. Records of Hollywood, California), gourmet cooking and writing poetry. He received the World of Poetry Golden Poet Award in 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991. In 1991 he was the World of Poetry Convention Contest Winner and in 1992 he received the World of Poetry Gold Medal of Honor award.


Apostle Wilkerson and his late wife, McLetha Williams Wilkerson, have six children - Cecil, Charles Jr., Carletha, Stephen, Core' and Robert Stanley. With much sorrow and regret, Chief Apostle Charles Wilkerson, Sr. passed away July 18, 2016. Our hearts are indeed broken and missing him very much.
